Medical aid continues to pours in as Covid-19 cases soar past 20 million mark in India | India News


New Delhi: With an unprecedented rise in coronavirus cases in India, Covid-19 aid, coming from around the world in early May, oxygen concentrations, ventilators and other medical aid, reached a critical mark of 20 million cases on Tuesday due to infection in the country.
A total of seven ISO tankers with 20 Metric Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) arrived at Mundra Port in Gujarat from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) today to help increase India’s oxygen availability in the fight against the raging covid-19 epidemic.
The fifth in a series of goods with 5,545 oxygen concentrations also arrived from the United States on Tuesday.
A shipment of 282 oxygen cylinders, 60 oxygen concentrators, ventilators and other medical supplies from Kuwait arrived in India on Tuesday to help the country fight the second wave of coronavirus.
The first batch of 900 oxygen cylinders offered by the British Oxygen Company was picked up at the airport on Monday by the Indian Air Force (IAF). The British Oxygen Company has offered 5,000 oxygen cylinders to help the country fight the rapid spread of the second wave of the Covid-19.
Earlier, the UK announced on Sunday that it would send an additional 1,000 ventilators from the UK’s surplus supply to Indian hospitals as part of its commitment to support India’s fight against the second wave of coronavirus.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson said India’s fight against the growing cases of coronavirus would be strengthened by the new UK government’s announcement of support sent to the UK last week in addition to 200 ventilators, 495 oxygen concentrators and the UK’s three oxygen generation units.
Taiwan sent 150 oxygen concentrates, 500 oxygen cylinders and 8,44,800 N-95 masks on Sunday. Meanwhile, Germany sent 120 fans.
Last week, the UAE sent 17,07,600 masks, 35,400 coverage, 75,200 gowns, 72,000 goggles and 7,14,301 quick test tests. Russia provided 150 bedside monitors, 20 oxygen concentrators and 200,000 packets of Favipiravir.
