About the PepMe app

Education is an activity organized with certain goals in mind, such as the transmission of knowledge or the development of skills and character. These objectives may include the growth of understanding, reason, kindness and integrity. Aiming to separate learning from expression, numerous studies emphasize the importance of critical thinking. While some theorists assert that education leads to student improvement, others favor a value-neutral definition of the term. In a slightly different sense, education can also refer to the mental state and disposition of the educated rather than the practice itself. The basic purpose of education was to pass on the cultural heritage to future generations. Today’s educational objectives include more and more novels such as the emancipation of the learner, Modern social skillsempathy, and sophisticated professional abilities.

Formal, non-formal and informal education are the three main categories of education. Formal learning takes place at educational and training facilities, is usually organized around curriculum goals and objectives, and is often facilitated by teachers. Formal education is usually divided into educational stages such as kindergarten, primary school and secondary school and is usually required up to a certain age in most places. Non-formal education can be used in place of or in addition to formal education.

It may follow an academic framework, but in a more flexible manner, and usually takes place in contexts based in the community, workplace or civil society. Finally, informal learning takes place in everyday life and in the family. Whether the purpose of an experience is educational or not, it can have a formative effect on how a person thinks, feels, or behaves. Informal learning can take place in all three settings, and there is a continuum in practice between the highly formal and the highly informal. For example, depending on the structure, homeschooling can be classified as formal or informal.

A school is a type of educational facility built to provide classrooms and other learning settings where students can be taught by teachers. Most countries have formal education systems that are occasionally required. [2] Students move through a sequence of schools in these systems. These institutions are known by different names depending on the country (explained in the Regional Terminology section below), but generally include a primary school for young children and a secondary school for teenagers who have completed primary school. A university or college is a frequent name for a place of higher education.

Students in a given nation may attend schools before and after their primary (elementary in the US) and secondary (middle school in the US) education in addition to these basic institutions. Young children receive some form of education in kindergarten or preschool (usually ages 3-5). After secondary school, students may choose to attend university, vocational school, college or seminary. A school may specialize in one area, such as economics or a dance school. Alternative schools may offer non-traditional curricula and teaching techniques.
