Chennai: V Kalyanam, The last Personal secretary Of Mahatma Gandhi, Died in Chennai on Tuesday due to age-related illnesses. Hey what 99.
Nalini, Kalyanam’s youngest daughter, said she breathed her last at her residence in Padur at 3.30 pm.
His funeral will be held on May 5 at 1.30pm at Besant Nagar Cemetery.
Born on August 15, 1922 in Shimla, Kalyanam was associated with Mahatma Gandhi from 1944 to 1948, says Kumari S. Nilkandan, Kalyanam’s biographer.
“Kalyanam was at the Sevagram Ashram in Maharashtra and was engaged in writing letters to Mahatma Gandhi in various languages. He had been helping the Father of the Nation for four years.”
Kalyanam was with Mahatma Gandhi when the Father of the Nation was assassinated in New Delhi on January 30, 1948.
